This ahi poke recipe is super simple— soy sauce, sesame oil, and fresh ahi. We also like to top with a little green onion and smoked flaked sea salt.

It’s important to buy high-quality sushi-grade ahi for recipes like this. “Sushi-grade” is not a real level of quality but it’s a term used to describe fish that’s generally safe to eat raw. It’s best to use fish that has been frozen very close to the time it was caught. It should not have any weird discoloration, inconsistent texture, or fishy smell. You can often find this level of quality at local fish markets, higher-end grocery stores, or even order it frozen from fish suppliers.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED (scroll to full ingredient list)
Ahi steak
Low-sodium soy sauce
Toasted sesame oil
Green onion
Sesame seeds
DIRECTIONS
STEP 1: AHI
Slice the ahi into chunks, about 1/2-1 inch cubes
STEP 2: SEASON
Combine the soy sauce and sesame oil in a bowl.
Add the ahi to the bowl and mix with the sauce to fully coat.
We like this best with only about 10-15 minutes in the marinade.
STEP 3: SERVE
Serve with a topping of sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and smoked flaked sea salt.
