Tri-Tip Sliders

These Tri-Tip Sliders will be your new go-to appetizer! They're juicy, smoky, and buttery - what more could you ask for!? Pair these Tri-Tip Sliders with a velvety smooth Oatmeal Stout.



Nothing beats the combination of flavors from the BBQ'd tri-tip, smoky BBQ sauce, and pepper jack cheese inside sweet and buttery Hawaiian rolls. Take our word for it: THESE. ARE. BOMB.






  • King's Hawaiian Rolls

  • Tri-tip

  • Garlic powder

  • Salt & black pepper

  • Pepper jack cheese

  • Yellow onion

  • Pickles

  • BBQ sauce

  • Butter

  • Garlic

  • Fresh parsley

  • Yellow hot chili peppers

  • Optional - Oatmeal Stout for beer pairing


DIRECTIONS

STEP 1: SEASON TRI-TIP
  • Liberally season tri-tip with salt, pepper, and garlic powder

STEP 2: GRILL
  • Grill tri-tip over medium heat.

  • For medium-rare, cook to an internal temperature of 120°F

  • Move the tri-tip to high heat and sear on both sides for 1-2 minutes each until the internal temperature reaches 125-130°F.

  • Remove from the grill and tent with foil for a 10-minute rest.

STEP 3: CARAMELIZE ONIONS
  • While the tri-tip cooks, slice onion into thin slices

  • Cook on medium-low heat in a deep pan for 45 minutes with olive oil, butter, and salt to taste.

  • Stir occasionally to ensure they don't burn.

  • If sticking occurs, splash small amounts of water in the pan to deglaze.

STEP 4: CHOP TRI-TIP
  • Chop the cooked tri-tip into 1/2-inch chunks.

STEP 5: PRE-HEAT OVEN
  • Pre-heat oven to 350°F

STEP 6: BUTTER
  • Chop the parsley and add the melted butter and garlic to a small bowl.

  • Mix and set aside.

STEP 7: BUILD SLIDERS
  • On the bottom half of the Hawaiian rolls, add a layer of pepper jack cheese, tri-tip, caramelized onions, BBQ sauce, dill pickles, another layer of pepper jack cheese, and add the top layer of the rolls.

  • Brush the tops of the buns with garlic butter.

STEP 8: BAKE
  • Bake the sliders in the oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes until the cheese melts and the tops are golden brown.

STEP 9: SERVE
  • Optional- serve with yellow hot chili peppers and pair Oatmeal Stout.







INGREDIENTS

Makes 9 sliders

  • 1 package King's Hawaiian Rolls (9-rolls)

  • 2 lbs tri-tip

  • 1 TBSP garlic powder

  • Salt and black pepper

  • 10-12 slices pepper jack cheese

  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced thin

  • 2 TBSP olive oil

  • 2 TBSP unsalted butter

  • 9 dill pickle chips

  • 1/2 C BBQ sauce (your choice)

  • 1/2 C butter, melted

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 TBSP fresh parsley, chopped
